Role Overview
SmartOSC’s Division 3 is bidding for an opportunity to build a mobile application for an important and growing account in the Japan (JP) market, with a tentative kick-off within September 2026. We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead this engagement end-to-end, acting as the key point of contact between the client and the delivery team, and ensuring the project is planned, executed, and delivered to a high standard of quality.
Key Deliverables & Responsibilities
1. Project Planning & Delivery:
– Define project scope, timeline, resource plan and delivery milestones for the mobile app project.
– Drive day-to-day project execution, ensuring deliverables are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality.
– Proactively identify risks, dependencies and blockers, and put in place mitigation and escalation plans.
2. Client & Stakeholder Communication:
– Act as the primary point of contact with the client, most of whom communicate in English.
– Run regular status meetings, progress reports and workshops with client stakeholders.
– Manage client expectations and ensure alignment between business requirements and delivery plans.
3. Team Management & Coordination:
– Lead and coordinate a cross-functional team (development, QA, BA, design) throughout the project lifecycle.
– Assign tasks, track progress and support the team in resolving technical and operational issues.
Foster a collaborative, accountable working culture within the project team.
4. Quality & Process Management:
– Apply Agile/Scrum or other suitable methodologies to manage sprints, backlogs and releases.
– Oversee requirement traceability, change management, and UAT sign-off before go-live.
– Ensure project documentation (plans, reports, minutes) is complete and up to date.
5. Reporting & Risk Management:
– Provide regular project status reports and dashboards to internal management and client stakeholders.
– Proactively manage risks and issues, escalating promptly when required.

Requirements

– Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
– 3+ years of experience in a Project Manager role, preferably in software or mobile app development projects.
– Experience managing projects for Japan (JP) market clients or Japanese stakeholders is a plus.
– Proven experience leading cross-functional delivery teams (development, QA, BA, design).
– Excellent English communication and presentation skills; ability to work directly with English-speaking clients.
– Strong stakeholder management and client-facing communication skills.
– Proficient in project management tools and methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Waterfall).
– Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under tight timelines; available to start by mid-September 2026.
