Technical Director (Banking)

Role Overview: The Technical Director – Banking will be responsible for overseeing all technology projects within the banking portfolio at SmartOSC. This role ensures that all solutions delivered to clients meet the highest standards of technical excellence, scalability, and compliance with industry best practices.

You will lead and mentor a team of Solution Architects, Technical Leads, and Engineering Managers, ensuring alignment between business goals, solution design, and technical delivery.

– Oversee solution architecture design to ensure feasibility, scalability, and alignment with banking industry standards and regulations.

– Lead and mentor teams of Solution Architects and Technical Leads to build high-performing, cross-functional technical teams.

– Collaborate closely with Delivery, Product, and Business teams to define the technical roadmap for banking clients.

– Design solutions, architectures, and implementation plans to ensure compliance with security, performance, and integration best practices.

– Serve as the technical escalation point for complex client engagements, ensuring quick resolution of critical issues.

– Stay up to date with emerging banking technologies (e.g., open banking, digital payment platforms, core banking modernization, API ecosystems) and integrate them into SmartOSC’s technical strategy.

– Drive continuous improvement across engineering and architecture practices within the banking domain.

– Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

– Proven experience as a Software Architect, Solution Architect, or similar role in banking/finance organizations.

– Proven experience in delivering enterprise-grade solutions for banking or financial services clients.

– Strong proficiency in designing and developing scalable banking or finance systems.

– Deep understanding of banking systems, including core banking, digital channels, API integration, and data security standards.

– Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience leading teams of architects and technical leads.

– Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of engaging effectively with both technical and business leaders.

– Strong strategic mindset, with a balance between innovation and delivery excellence.

– Experience with cloud-native architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP) and modern software development frameworks is highly desirable.
